Cook
Book Project
C.H.A.
has undertaken a new
project! We plan to write a
cook book to be ready for sale by
Christmas 2006. It will be a
collection of both old and new
recipes from the current and
former residents of Collinsville
and their ancestors. There
will be recipes from at least two
old, out of print cook books.
Do you have a favorite recipe that
belonged to an aunt, or sister ,
grandmother or cousin? Would
you be willing to share that
recipe? We would be proud to
include it in this
book.
Do you have a recipe that brings
back memories? A recipe that
was only made at Christmas, or
only made for a birthday?
Would you be willing to
include that information with the
recipe? Tell us who it
belonged to, where she (or he) was
from, and what special memories it
holds. We are looking for
that special "heirloom"
recipe.
This will be both a cook book and
a history lesson for all who scan
its pages and, we hope, a journey
that will have a tasty treat at
its end!
Help us preserve our
history! Share those
wonderful old (and new) dishes
that have made "Southern
Cooking" what is has always
been......delicious!
We have a form that you may print
out just by clicking here,
or you may use a piece of lined
paper or a recipe card. We
need to have these recipes back by
July 17th in order to get the book
by Christmas. If you use the
form you may email it to marthab@tds.net
or mvp@powernet.org
or leave it at Graves Hardware, A
Time 2 Sew or Cook's Barber Shop
in downtown Collinsville, or give
it to any C.H.A. member.
We look forward to receiving your
favorite recipes and its history.
